'Talk of the Town': Nagar Singh's interrogation clipping

JAMMU, Oct 27: A video clip of master mind in Amandeep Murder case, Nagar Singh alias Nago being interrogated by the police is talk of the town. The clipping has not only exposed the way police interrogates accused but also chilled the spine of politicians, police officials and media people whose name have been revealed by Nago during interrogation.

Nagar Singh is father of Jatinder Singh alias Raja, who is main accused in the murder of Amandeep Singh.

Video shot at the Gandhi Nagar police station during the interrogation by Special Investigation Team (SIT) shows Nagar Singh being pressurized to reveal the names of the people with whom he had various business dealings.

Clip also shows the filthy and vulgar language being used by the police officials and even the then SSP Jammu, Basant Rath is shown placing his shoes on thighs of Nago, who could be seen holding his hands pleading before the officials. Though there are other police officials, whose voice can be heard, but only the face of Rath and DySP H.S Gill, now retired could be seen.

In the video link, names of Editor-in Chief of prominent daily newspaper in the state having ties with bookies and Hawala transitions. Name of owner of another newspaper in land grabbing case has also being discussed, who is said to use the name of Nago while encroaching the lands.

Even the name of senior Congress leader who holds a important portfolio and Member of Parliament (MP) has also surfaced, alleged to have demanded money from Nago to allegedly use their influence to scuttle the investigation. During the interrogation, Nago is seen hit his head on the floor of the room after police officials ask him to sleep on the floor on his face.

Names of some other prominent businessman has also discussed in the video, on their involvement in the cricket match fixing.

Police man are seen repeatedly asking him to tell had he received call from a senior Congress leader to help in slowing down the investigation or had he paid Rs 50 lakh to a MP in the past. The links about his links with the underworld people in Delhi and Mumbai is also being talked about.

During the interrogation, he was repeatedly asked to name the police officials with whom he has remained in touch during the past few years.

"Video is shocking as the way police is using filthy language is against the norms of interrogation. No matter Nago is criminal, but this is unwarranted", said a senior police official on condition of anonymity.

Important to note that senior police officials which include Manohar Singh, former SSP Jammu, Inspector Sultan Mirza, former SHO Gandhi Nagar, Sub Inspector Satnam Singh, former Investigating Officer (IO) in Amandeep murder case, Choudhary Nagar Singh and his two brothers, Rakesh Singh and Jaggar Singh are in jail for fudging the weapon used in the criminal conspiracy.

Among other evidence which was produced before the court, the SIT has cited financial deal between police officers and Choudhary brothers under which Manohar Singh was paid Rs 50 lakh cash and was to get a flat in Delhi, Sultan Mirza was paid Rs 25 lakh and was to get a flat in Jammu while Satnam Singh was paid Rs 50,000.

Amandeep Singh was shot dead at his home in Shastri Nagar locality here Aug 29 by Jatinder Singh alias Raja, son of an influential businessman. Amandeep's mother Deepinder Kaur was an eyewitness to the murder of her son.
